The Friday E-Mail

A huge hello to one and all.

It’s Friday 9^th December 2005, the second Friday in advent, isn’t it? Not sure how special that fact is, but I thought it was worth a mention.

After a term of toil and graft, the inaugural term for the university people, and the sixth form people for that matter, is reaching an end. Tired and well worked, it’s time for a rest back home, time to recharge and perhaps more importantly, time to see each other and catch up. Sticking with this purpose of Christmas, the great Christmas meet-up will be held on Wednesday 21^st December in The Lion of Vienna at 7pm. And as further sweetener to the deal, your first drink* is on me.

It’s good to know it’s nearly time to go home. As the end of term was last week, this place is deserted, bar three more first years and any interviewees we can find. It’ll be nice to return to the vibrant roots of Manchester and its surrounding hidey-holes.

I hope everyone else has had a fantastic opening term to their new studies, and that it only gets better.

That’s about all that needs to be said, I think. Oh, just one more thing. There have been muted ramblings that I have begun to pick up a southern accent. This just isn’t true. My accent has changed ever-so-slightly, but I think everyone’s will have done, but it’s not a southern accent at any rate. This is another good thing about coming home; I’ll be surrounded by northerners again, rather than these southerners down here. There’s just too many of them!
