Well, it’s a big ‘hello’ to those who are here, and a big wave to those who are further away.
This week has sparked the final end of the summer, as our first university leavers depart. Namely Rick for Aberdeen today, Scott to Manchester tomorrow (he’s off the face of the planet for at least the first fortnight people, even if he is so close!) and Clarkey to Leeds on Sunday.
Back to the week that was though.
We trailed the first beer-tasting party where we all participated in drinking all sorts of different imported beers. From the fruity 1664 Blanc through to Japan’s Premier Beer, it was a stunning night of exquisite taste. We discovered the worst film ever made and put out to rent. ‘The Life Aquatic’ is positively dire! The only reason we watched was to see a shark get blown to smithereens using dynamite, but they just let it swim away! **shakes head in disgust** We also found the perfect, but arm knackering, way to round off the evening. The Eye Toy is something to be played to be believed, and we fought well over 12 different disciplines to crown Mr James Hannah the winner after a nail-biting tie-break boxing game. Chris fought well to win the fireworks round and should have won the dancing game where he showed just how funky his stuff could be shook! If only we hadn’t distracted him! **cackles**
Monday, well, one thing dominated the headlines for the rest of the week. The Ashes have finally returned home! After a tense fifth day in the fifth test, it was Pietersen who led us to victory after his stunning first century in test cricket. What a guy! Still, it was an anti-climatic finish as they left the field under bad-light before removing the bales in a pretty theatrical manner. They’re home where they belong again now though, after 18 years in Australia. It’s good to have them back among us!
Tuesday was the day we managed an old-style Manchester trip with sandwiches at Philpotts and a coffee at Costa Coffee at the top of Waterstones by way of a fond farewell to the city that’s given us so much fun over the past few years. (Although, for Scott, he’s going back there anyway!)
Wednesday, it may have only been four weeks late, but we finally managed to hold an 18th birthday celebration for Clarkey! A pint at a bar I could have stayed all night (They had SIX handpumps!) followed by a glorious meal at Smithhills Coaching House before a few more pubs and a relatively early night for us as we hit the hay at half two in the morning.
Thursday, me and Chris participated in the ‘Farewell Tour’ of Bolton, calling in on James, Scott and Rick to say goodbye, farewell and see you in December!
Then today, well, I’ve told you about today already!
Still, please visit http://wellthisisit.blogspot.com for personal updates from us all, about us all. If you wish for your own space on this page, then feel free to tell me and we’ll get you one within two working days. And that’s a promise!
Ta taa for now

People, make sure you don't see that movie!!! As Paul says, the only thing we carried on watching it for was the killing of the shark. And the Eye Toy was made especially fun when instead of watching the screen, you watch Paul jumping around and waving his arms around frantically, all in the aim of cleaning a window on the screen.... Oh what fun it was. I have to say, after the promise of a half price meal, and a Pub Crawl to beat all pub crawls, we only ended up going in 4(the same number as on the Tyldesley Pub "Saunter") and a bar to end the night(where Mr C so expertly wet his pants). However the meal was great, and I'd like to thank Mr C for organising the event, even if it did take him until 5pm to actually ask if we could have the meal at Smithills. Its a shame Rick couldnt join though
