The (Good) Friday E-Mail
Greetings comrades!
What a week of holiday it’s been. It really has flown by so much quicker than even I expected it to, and I’m trying to take stock of what I’ve got left to do, whilst rapidly realising I’m running out of time to do it all – fast! But, I will succeed! I’m not down and out just yet.
I write this under a very bright moon and a pretty clear sky, with all the stars beaming down onto us all. And I hope you take this opportunity to have a glance for yourself. It is a beautiful sight, just looking, but then all the thoughts that can go through your head about it all as well… I don’t have time to witter on about it all tonight, I’m pretty pressed for time, but one day, and you know it’ll happen at some point, I’ll manage it.
But, from last Friday to this Friday, so much has happened with each and every one of us, and it would be impossible for me to recount it all for everyone, so I’m not even going to try.
Safe to say the end of term came as a great relief for us all, with the prospect of lie-ins and a chance to enjoy the day, rather than be cooped up in a classroom for the entirety. And, by all account, it’s been great.
Kyle and I went to a guitar concert on Friday night, which was fantastic, and James and Chris disappeared to Blackpool to see Razorlight, which was amazing by all accounts. And with James, Chris and Scotty seeing Feeder tonight, it’s hardly a bad life on the concert front. Especially as James enters double figures in the concert T-shirt stakes. But where’s all the dosh coming from? Ahh, who cares?! Life is short, let’s enjoy it while we can.
The weekend, nothing much happened. It’s true, it didn’t. The Grand Prix – another early morning one – was a little better, but not by much. Seeing Alonso win was refreshing though, especially with Shumi on a meagre 2 points compared to last season’s perfect 20 at this point. Hehe. His fortune’s might change yet though with the early introduction of the F2005 in Bahrain, a race earlier than initially expected.
And then the week off began.
For me, a trip into Manchester on Monday (went to see The Magic Roundabout! What a film!), my “nudge-nudge-wink-wink-it’s-a-secret-really-get-together” preparations and recovery on Tuesday / Wednesday and then trying and failing at proper revision Thursday / Friday. Not a lot done, really.
Tuesday was a night of epic proportions though. We filled my recycling box with endless amounts of bottles, ate so much food, played so many different CDs and generally had a brilliant time as a group for once. No splits, no tensions, just our group doing what it does best – having a damn good laugh! I thoroughly enjoyed it, be it the YMCA, D-I-S-C-O, Bohemian Rhapsody or Its The End Of The World As We Know It ((And I knew all the words! Haha!)) The amount drunk was pretty proportional to the numbers though, with no one getting properly drunk. The eating was great though, so much chocolate, salad (special cucumber for Laura!), fruit, chocolate, crisps, nuts, pizzas, spring rolls and then 3 a.m. pancakes to round it all off. Then the sausages in the morning with toast and fruit juice outside in the morning air. It was a brilliant night though, and I think I can say with some safety that it rivals for the best night we’ve had to date. The atmosphere was electric at times, and no house is complete without its own suspension bridge! Ah-ha! Many, many stories will come out of Tuesday night, be it about my making concrete or the alternative Calder Drive, or so much more. I really enjoyed being the host to you all though, and I’m very, very pleased that you all had so much fun. I’ll keep you posted about the prospects of another one. I’m hopeful, at least.
Oh, and the chicken-tree lives on. My Mum noticed it within a minute of entering the house again, but she’s going to let it stay until after Easter. But, you’re in for it first Monday back James! Hehehe!!
The tidying up went well, and with the great help from Jenny, it was soon done, and we’re very much back to normal again. Except for the full recycling box only two days into the week! I hope to have you all around again soon.
I shall leave it there though. For those who couldn’t make it, never fear, I’m pretty sure there’ll be another one, but it’ll teach you for leaving the country! Ah-ha!
And, congratulations to Scott and Kat, who managed their giving up chocolate for lent, despite the many, many trials and temptations they went through, especially on Tuesday night, but it’ll soon be over, and they can gorge themselves silly on Easter Sunday on all those Easter eggs.
We do, however, lose an hour on Saturday night as the clocks go forward (not like last week as my counterpart Saturday e-mail tried to claim) so the lie-in will seem longer on the clocks, but wont be. Pity.
What is there left to say but, HAPPY EASTER! Don’t eat so much choc you’ll be sick, but enjoy it to the full and have a good one.
See you all soon
Bye for now
Paul

*shakes head* Will someone tell Adri to stop boasting! hehe We can do another swap, whereby you can do maths in England and we can all go and philosphise in Germany? Does that sound like a plan or what? Perhaps we could establish an international detective agency between the two places. I heard of this thing called MI6, but they're just minor league!

Another thing. Do you think it's possible that we can watch the Magic Roundabout sometime? Perhaps we're not the intended audience of this great film but it sure beats Sideways...
*looks around in disbelief* Let's just say I'm not a fan of that film and it will forever be my worst film ever...
well Hollywood can still surprise me yet.
Just wanted to add a bit of debate to the e-mail, but the main thing is we should watch Magic Roundabout soon if possible. Sir Ian McKellen does a voice over of one of the characters too, I believe.

The Magic Roundabout is a class film. It really is magnifico - fantastico! Although, just about level with Sideways, really. Ah-ha! No, I recommend it, just for the looks you'll get from the ticket sellers! **smirks**
With top notch stars as voices, Sir Ian being Zebadee, and Bill Nighy as the evil zeebad, this is a film not to be missed.

Dear Diary,
It has come to my attention that I have a problem, however pathetic it may seem, I need to type this now to get it off my chest...as I hold my head in my hands I admit I can no longer lick my elbow at all. Everytime I try it's unsuccessful, why can't I do it? Worse still I can't even lick my own freakin' nose! Why is this so? Please help!

Oh, I couldn't possibly be anyone's room-mate with this inadequacy but there is hope as I have researched the pros and cons of elbow-licking at thankfully in this competitive world, it doesn't matter if I can't do it or not. Oh how the Friday e-mail brings me closer and closer to happiness! Thank you Paul, I'm eternally grateful.
Jonah (no longer dillusional)
